DIY Coron

How To Do A Coron Town Inland Tour?

Many people have asked me what to do when they are already in Coron Town proper. Well, here are your possible activities.

* Climb Mt. Tapyas – this is a walking distance from town proper. Free. No entrance fee.

* Dip at Maquinit Hotsping – you have to rent a tricycle for this. Rental rate starts at P250-300 (as of today), tricycle can fit 4-6 people (depending on the individual’s body size), travel time at around 15 minutes, entrance fee is at P100/head. Maquinit Hotspring is also possible by boat during high tides only. And do a Maquinit trip by land, if you want to optimize you boat trip for the Coron Island Loop (you don’t need to have maquinit as part of coron island loop itinerary).

* Visit Coron Harvest, Cashew Factory – I find it fascinating watching how they cook and pack this cashew nut. Cashew nut is the main pasalubong (souvenir) item from Coron. You can buy the cashew nuts there. It is located near Coron Port (Pantalan). Tricycle fare is P8/head.

* Visit Lambingan Bridge – There is no bridge really. What you will find is a pier or dock like wooden structure above the sea. The view here is very nice. Photogenic! You can just walk to get here or ride a tricycle.

* Visit Mabentangen River and Dam – A very popular spot among the locals. What you will find is a fresh water pool, being held by a dam. You may want to take a dip here. To get here, you have to rent a tricycle (starts at P250).

* Horseback at Horse Valley – You can rent a tricycle to get here. Here you will ride a horse following a trail on the hills. You will reach the “Coron” sign in the top of the hill.

* Buy Souvenir Items – Most store opens from 8am to 5pm. Since you are available in these time, this is your best time to buy the souvenirs. Remember, most of your day time will be spent in the boat trip. There’s a big souvenir shop called Everly. There are other small shops within town proper.

* Walk Around Town – This is the best way to explore the town – by walking. Coron town is such a small town that every establishment or spot is possible by walking.

All these activities can be done on your own. Do It Yourself, yes. If you want to be guided in this Coron Town Tour, this can also be arranged upon request.

Hope this will give ideas on what to do when you are in Coron Town.

Until then.
