How To Start A Joining Group Tour?

Joining Group

Here’s how to start or create a DIY Coron Joining Group Tour:

  1. Mock-book a tour in this site. (https://www.tfaforms.com/4656762)  Just see first how much it will cost if you are able to maximize the number of passengers in a boat.
    • Example: If your group is just 2 pax, and you want to rent the boat at its capacity, choose 11pax.
    • This boat capacity is at 12pax = 11 guests + 1 tour guide.
    • Using the above form, and assuming you would do a 1 day Coron Island Loop tour, choose 11 as the number of joiners or passengers. This will cost at P650/person. Entrance fee is not included. Includes: Boat Rent (with life vests), Tour Guide, and Picnic Lunch.
    • The Joining Group starter has the privilege to choose the itinerary or the spots they will visit. Note that a maximum of 8 spots for Coron Island Loop is the limit.
  2. Now you have to make a reservation for the boat on a particular date. You will have to make a reservation deposit. Here in DIY Coron, the reservation deposit is set at P50/pax/daytour. If you are at 2pax and will do a 1 day Coron Island Loop, the reservation deposit is P100.
    • In this way, the created Joining Group is not a bogus one. It is a serious tour set on a particular date.
    • Note that there is a risk that there could be no other Joiners for your tour. Therefore, be prepared to convert your Joining Group tour into a Private or Exclusive Group Tour. And at 2pax, this tour would cost P1650/person.
  3. Your created Joining Group will now be posted here at DIY Coron. Advertise your Joining Group tour to get other Joiners. This post will now become a discussion venue for this Joining Group.
    • Tip: DIY Coron posts can be easily seen in Google Search, and therefore it can reach other people who are also looking for a Coron Joining Group online.
  4. When others decide to join, they will also need to make a reservation deposit of P50/pax/daytour, so that the joining would not be a bogus one.
    • Others can still join on the day of the tour itself, but it does not guarantee a sure seat for them.
    • Other joiners should also be ready for the outcome of their final count as a Joining Group. Say, if the final count is at 7pax, then the tour cost would be P800/person.
    • The group can decide when to close the group. They can close it at 8pax, 10pax, etc. They will just have to agree.
    • The group can also agree on the spots to visit, but let us give the last say to the one who started the group (as a privilege for starting the Joining Group).

And so, there you have it. This is how to create a Joining Group, DIY Coron style. Based on my experience, it is really quite difficult to form a Joining Group. But once online people know where to look for Joining Group, forming a Joining Group would be not so difficult.

There are advantages and disadvantages of creating and joining a Joining Group tour. But I know that this will become a great venue for gaining new friends and travel buddies. I know this because, during  my active travel days, I gained many travel friends though organizing Joining Groups tours.

If you are interested in creating a Joining Group tour, please fill up the form https://www.tfaforms.com/4656762  See you!

Sample Tour Cost Computation for 4D3N

Site News Feed

Earlier, I posted a sample tour cost for 3D2N trip, now I am posting a sample tour cost for a 4D3N trip.

The cost components here can be customized according to your requirements. And you could request a computation from me. And although, for now, I am just offering Boat Rent + Tour Guide + Snorkel Sets, I think I will be able to initially include lodging and transfer. But this is no package, because the hotel booking would initially be done through online or direct booking (which you can also do).

Until then. Post your inquiries in the Inquire Here Page. Thanks.

I would like to say thank you to Owen for organising the best trip!! He was very helpful and made sure I was happy with everything. Our tour guide Eran was the best! He went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with our 3 day tour. Him and the 3 awesome boat men he was with were very friendly and cooked the yummiest and freshest food, we always looked forward to our lunch break because we knew it would be yummy! We were a group of 11 adults and 2 toddlers and it wasn’t always easy because of the kids but Eran was very considerate and helped us out a lot. We were very sad to say goodbye to him and his crew but we cannot wait to be back! Thank you again Owen and team for making this happen!

DIY Coron Recommends Catic Snorkel & Mask

DIY Coron Recommended

DIY Coron Recommends Catic Snorkel & Mask

I am a snorkeler. And I have snorkeled many times in a year. And I want to give you readers my personnal review on this piece of snorkeling gadget.

Brand: Catic
Gadget: Snorkeling/Diving Mask & Snorkeling Tube
Color: Black-Blue combination
Size: One Size (Adult Size)
Made In: China

Although I sell this gadget, I am giving my objective evaluation on this item.

Price – *****

I think, as of this date of writing, this Catic brand is the best value for money in terms of price and function. This is sold at P475-650, depending on promotion condition. This is the cheapest brand that made of tempered glass. Other similar mask at this price range will sell you a mask made of clear rigid plastic (i.e. Intex brand, usually sold at kids section at any Dept Store). Other similar mask with the same tempered glass make will sell you at a higher price (Speedo/Dolfino/Ocean Diver/Mesuca/Aropec P650-1000).

Functionality – *****

If you apply the leak test for the mask, it would not leak when fitted in your face. The snorkel tube purge system does not leak also. I have tried this also in skin diving up to 3 meters with no problem. Therefore, I score this highest at 5 out of 5.

Composition – ****

Mask is made of tempered glass and pvc skirt. Tube is made from pvc. I think this is the only drawback. Other good brands (like Aqua Lung, Mares, etc.) would be made of silicon. However, funtionality-wise this brand does the job well as it does not leak in your face.

Durability – **

Let’s admit it. This gadget has 2 weak spots – the tube handler and the ear piece that holds the straps. When the tube is forced into the tube handler, it will break. If the mask is thrown and falls ear piece first, this part will break. Therefore, this gadget should be handled with care. This is not recommended for rentals. Personally, I have used this gadget for 2 years without any damage.

There it is. All in all, I recommend this piece of gadget. This is the cheapest gadget that really function well as a snorkeling gadget.

DIY Coron recommends this accommodation in Bohol. You may book Royal Paradise Bed & Breakfast, Panglao Island, Bohol through here at DIY Coron.

We we were able to avail their Promo rate of P750/night (Ocean View Room). (Note: Promo Rate will end on Dec 14, 2014.) I was really surprised with this lodge. Why? 1) The room was air-conditioned, 2) The room has a flat screen led TV, 3) The room has a hot/cold shower, 4) The Ocean View room indeed a great view of the ocean, 5) It has free breakfast for two, and 6) It is very near Libaong Beach. Nearby resorts are Amarela, Resort Manuela, and Island View Holiday Villas.

And like all other accommodations in Bohol, they can also arrange your tours. Here is their posted rate. (Tip: You may still get some discount once there already. Book with us, and I recommend you to them for discounts.)

How to DIY (Do It Yourself)?

  • From TAG Airport ride tricycle to Downtown Panglao Jeep Terminal. Fare = P10
  • From Panglao Terminal, ride jeep. Tell the driver you will drop at Libaong Beach. Fare = P25
  • From the main road, ask the lodging to fetch you there via motorcycle (habal-habal), Fee = P50 (good for 2 person)
  • OR, start a day 1 tour (Country Side), then after the tour, have your vehicle drop you at Royal Paradise.
  • OR, avail their Airport Transfer at P600-700.

From the lodging, everything now will be easy.

The place is quiet and serene. Same thing with the beach, it is peaceful and not crowded. I am sure you would enjoy your stay here, as we had enjoyed it.

Coron Culion Overnight Pass Lusong Tour

Coron Culion Overnight Pass Lusong Tour, Other Town Overnight Trip

DSC09469 DSC09528

Here’s a new overnight trip: how about staying overnight at Culion Town?

This trip would add a historical trip to Culion – a former leper colony town. This combines with the best of Coron Island spots and best of sandy beach island, and best of snorkeling spots.

Since the overnight is in a town, this would be a “own cost” or “not included” item in my itinerary list. Anyway, booking an accommodation here is easy.

Coron North Cay Island Overnight All-In Tour

Coron North Cay Loop 2 Days, Island Overnight

CNCOAT Map

Here’s one customized itinerary I would really recommend. Words are not enough to describe this paradise.

  • Sleep at North Cay Island.
  • Visit Black Island.  See the huge cave.
  • Snorkel at one of the best snorkeling site in the country – Lusong Island.
  • And of course, visit Kayangan Lake and Atuayan Beach of Coron Island.

This is indeed a “Best of both paradise”!

Best time to visit: October to May.

If you have Google-searched enough, you might still see my old blog about my trip in Gutob Bay (This is where North Cay Island is located).

FAQ

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. How do I join a Joining Group? Ans.: There must be an existing Joining Group first before you can join a Joining Group. You may see it here in the JG Calendar. If there is one, you should mention it as a comment in the Reservation Form.
  2. If there is no existing Joining Group, what do I do? Ans.: You have 2 options. 1) You may opt not to proceed with the inquiry since there is no group to join. 2) You may opt to start or create a Joining Group. Just fill up the form and make a reservation deposit. Your tour will be posted in the JG Calendar. When someone joins, you will be notified.
  3. Can I customize my tour itinerary? Ans.: Yes, you may! The posted itineraries here are some of my recommendations based on my experience. But you may change it the way you like it. Just mention it in the comment in the form.
  4. Are the prices in your Sample Itineraries are in Peso Per Group? Ans.: No, it’s in Peso Per Person.
  5. Are the entrance fees of the spots not mentioned in your Sample Itineraries included in the tour cost? Ans.: If the spot you want to visit is not on my Sample Itinerary, then the cost of that entrance fee is not included. You may visit those spots not listed, but you just have to pay the entrance fee directly to the spot.
  6. Are the prices in your Sample Itineraries fixed and would not change? Ans.: The prices there are not fixed, and it may change. This would really depend on the local tourism conditions in Coron. Example: Entrance fees change without prior notice. Like CYC Island, this used to be free; but now there is an entrance fee of P100.
  7. Are your prices the cheapest in Coron? Ans.: My prices here are not the cheapest. But I can assure you that my tours are value-for-your-money. Being the cheapest price would mean that 1) there are many joiners in your tour group, 2) some spots would have to removed and be limited, and 3) some services would have to be simplified.
  8. What then would be your advantage over other tour agencies in Coron? Ans.: I would say that I have the expertise when it comes to exploring/touring not only Coron, but also the whole Calamian Group of Islands. I am known for Island Overnight trips. Being in this activity since 2008, I would know the most optimized tour. Most likely I would be referred to you by someone who availed my tour offer before. Their Testimonies can also be seen here if you wish to read it.
  9. (Note: Other questions would just be added here as needed.)

Coron Banana Overnight All-In Tour

Coron Banana Overnight All-In Tour

This itinerary is my most recommended. If you want to experience the best of Coron, one must spend overnight in an island. The accommodation in the island is basic but decent. Some rooms have private toilet and bath, and most rooms are for shared toilet and bath. Nevertheless, this would still be my most recommended itinerary in Coron. I brought my officemates here and let them experience island overnight, and until now they can’t forget the experience.

This is actually a combination of a Coron Island Loop and Malcapuya Banana Loop tour having an accommodation in the island. However, instead of having Malcapuya Island as the default spot, for this island overnight, the default spot is Banana Island.

Coron 950 Loop

Malcapuya 1000 Loop

Banana Island is the island in front of Malcapuya Island (at your 5 O’clock)

And just like with day trip itineraries, you may add nearby spots. You just have to pay the entrance fee directly on the spot.

Due to the varying policy of the Calauit Management Office and Coron Tourism policies, I have decided to  provide Van Rent and Tour Guide Hire For Calauit, instead of the usual tour. Visitors would have to book their reservation directly at the Calauit Office in Coron town.

As for the itinerary, you could still follow the usual itinerary I made for this trip. I actually still have included it in the provision. You may opt to follow that itinerary or make your own. I also put all possible fees and other cost you may encounter.
